RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE HOLY GHOST
Wednesday, November 22nd .
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will (Hebrews 2:4).*_
The word translated “gifts” here, doesn’t mean gifts like we have it in 1 Corinthians 12:4, where the word “gifts” is translated from “charisma.” Here, “gifts’ is translated from the Greek word “merismos,” and it means “distributions.” It’s more accurately rendered “distributions of the Holy Ghost,” instead of “gifts of the Holy Ghost,” in the KJV.
What do we mean by distributions of the Holy Ghost? Acts 5:12 says, _And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.”
The Word states that many signs and wonders were done by the hands of the apostles. Who are we? We’re God’s outstretched hands. We’re bearers of the divine order. We serve the blessings of the New Testament and one of those blessings is the Holy Ghost; we “distribute” the Holy Ghost. It’s the reason we can lay hands on someone and the person receives the Holy Spirit.
Oftentimes, we say in prayer, “I bless you in the Name of Jesus. I bless you with the Word, and I bless you with the Holy Ghost.” That’s what we’re doing: distributing the blessings of the Spirit. When Jesus blew on His disciples in John 20:22 and said, “...Receive ye the Holy Ghost,” they received the spirit of understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures. That’s “distribution”; and He’s given us the grace to do likewise. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the privilege to be not just a beneficiary of the glorious blessings inherent in the New Testament, but also for the grace and ability to distribute these blessings to others. I pronounce blessings and the favor of God on my friends, family, colleagues, and associates today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
You Are God Best
FURTHER STUDY:
2 Corinthians 3:4-6 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
Acts 8:14-17 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
